Our Philosophy: Real Life always comes before World of Warcraft. If something comes up, don't feel like you have to raid with us. We won't kick you and we won't penalize you. If you can't make it or start having conflicts, please let us know as soon as you can, either in-game or on these forums. Even if you can't let us know, don't worry. We won't kick you or hold it against you. Focus your efforts on real life and come to WoW to relax.

Our Rules: We keep the guild a comfortable place for all members. As such, you must follow some simple rules.
Refrain from using offensive terms and slander in any guild channels. Swearing is allowed. Racial and sexual derogatory terms are not.
If you don't know if something is offensive or not, ask an officer. Basically, if saying it would get you in trouble in the LGBTQ or United Nations, don't say it.

Our Gear / Loot System: We use EPGP, which stands for Effort Points Gear Points. We award Effort Points for killing bosses and spending time raiding. We give you Gear Points when you get phat lewts. To determine who receives an item, we look at your Priority Rating. Your Priority is determined using a simple formula:
EP / (GP+700) = PR
The 700 is a base Gear Points in our system to prevent divide-by-zero errors.
Basically, what this means is, getting EP raises your Priority, and getting GP lowers your Priority. In practice, it keeps everyone getting gear and rewards those who raid with us more often.
But Yams! Won't people who raid all the time, such as the officers, have so much EP that new players will never get loot?
No! The regular raiders and officers have lots of Gear Points to offset the higher Effort Points. We also do a decay of EP and GP every week to keep the numbers manageable.

How long has your guild been together?
Talamasca was formed in the first days of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. By first days, I mean the guild was formed literally either the first or second day the expansion went live. Many of us raided together or in different guilds during the Burning Crusade expansion.
